Type set coin collecting has been a favorite pursuit of many United States hobbyists for years, and one of the most popular type sets that collectors build is the 20th-century coin set. For those who don't know, a 20th-century type coin set consists ...

Can You Still Find Dollar Coins In Circulation?

Posted in Viewpoint on Tuesday, 21 February 2017

Perhaps you're a coin collector from the days of the 1950s or 1960s, when you could still buy Morgan silver dollars and Peace silver dollars from the bank for face value. Or, maybe you recall the 1970s and early 1980s, when Eisenhower dollars and Sus...

Hello, Josh I was just curious on this 1955 wheat penny.
The wheat looks like a defect as well as the M in America. Please tell me what you think.

    Thank you,
    Frank

Posted in Coin Profiles on Wednesday, 15 February 2017

Take a look at your pocket change. How many pennies do you see? Of those, how many sport the classic Lincoln Memorial reverse design that was struck from 1959 through 2008?The Lincoln Memorial penny was struck by the billions upon billions. But there...

HI, Chris -- If you have the 1964 through 1968 half dollars plus a 1976-S 40% Bicentennial, the value of the set would be roughly $22 to $25. If the 1976 half dollar is not 40% silver, the value of the Kennedy half dollar set is closer to $18-$22....

    Hello, Matt!

It is great to hear from you. Fantastic that your 1971-S Ike dollar is still in its original government envelope and holder. Some coin collectors are paying small (but increasing) premiums for coins such as these dollars in their government packages, as more and more are being cut out and removed from their cellophane holders every day. I would need to please see a photo of your Eisenhower dollar to see what you're asking about in regards to the globe. You may upload an image here in the comments forum.

Where are you seeing the star listed near the expensive coins? I ask because, based on the resource, this can mean a number of things. I'd love to help you much further in this reply, but without knowing the context of the star and the listings, I'm afraid I'm not much help at this point(!)

Coin Values continues to grow, and we appreciate your visiting this site. We are always happy to help however we can and look forward to assisting you with more of your questions and comments!

    Best,
    Josh @ Coin Values
