Guys..i've got an urgent question cuz am about to take a decision i know nothing about..
I got 1908 St. Gaudens $20 in perfect condition.. am not even a coin collector but i had way ling time ago from my father before he passed away.. few days ago a friend of mine called me n said he met a man who's very intersting buying it..i met him n he offered around 80,000 thousand dollars equally to his egyptian pounds offer..
I found some similar coins of mine on the auctions on web and ebay have been sold for more than half million dollar!!
So my question here is it worth 80 thousand dollars or if it worth more and if more how can i sell it online and for aprox. How much??
Sorry for taking too long but here in egypt its quiet rare to find collectors who really understand values..thanks alot
Hi, Confused!

Indeed, coin values can be and are a confusing matter for many, so no worries. Based on the photos I am seeing on your post, your Saint-Gaudens $20 double eagle is worth closer to $1,500 (USD). That figure is based on the United States market; it is quite possible your piece may fetch a bit more on the Egyptian market as the Saint-Gaudens double eagle gold coins are certainly scarcer in that collector market than the U.S. market.

I advise you to sell your coin at a coin dealer or on eBay. Bear in mind, values of gold coins such as the $20 Saint-Gaudens gold coin fluctuate based on prevailing bullion values, and thus your coin may be worth more or less by the time you read this.

I wish you all the best,
Josh @ CoinValues
Thanks alot for ur reply mr.joshua

Okasha, I doubt you would get more selling the coin on eBay. If you know someone willing to pay U.S. $80,000 for your coin then by all means sell it to them. Keep in mind, however, that your coin is really worth about $1,500 as Josh pointed out.

Depending on the laws in Egypt governing precious metals, it could definitely be worth more in your market, but not likely to fetch you more than $2,000.

If you decide to sell over eBay make sure you thoroughly study eBay policies regarding publishing and selling from Egypt. You need to see first if you can legally list the coin for sale and check if any laws in Egypt could interfere with an international gold sale. These laws are very different from country to country so make sure you do your homework.

Obviously the best thing to do if your contact does not want to pay the $80,000 (which the coin isn't worth, anyway) would be to sell it to a reputable gold dealer in your area.
