Hello hope the day finds you well and in great spirits!
I have a 1971 Blue Ike "S" with a serif R I believe the Globe is raised so "obverse"? Anyhow it is still in original cellophane that is rather browned. Looking at its value by comparison seems to be around $10?

    My real questions are:
I noticed a star "*" on the most expensive coins. What does the star mean? I see them for sale from $2500 to $3500 !!! :o

After doing research on my Blue Ike I see that many are certified. In my case would I do better to save it for cert. when silver climbs higher? If I offered it now would the value go up with a cert.?

Much appreciate your time. LOVE this site, extremely useful tool. Keep up the good work!

Hmm.... Where are you seeing the stars? I'm not sure exactly what this is referring to out of context. I can tell you for certain that a 1971-S Blue Pack Eisenhower dollar is worth about $7 to $10, based on its condition.

In the case of certifying your coin, it's probably best not to since it doesn't really raise the value of a coin, per se, but rather just serves to authenticate it and grade it based on its condition. The only time where it might make sense to get the coin graded and certified is if the coin looks to have been especially well preserved. The way you describe it, the coin sounds like a rather ordinary specimen and probably not worth the $15 to $30 grading fee.

I hope this info is helpful! Thank you for your question and wonderful feedback. We hope to see you stop by again!

      Best,
      Josh @ CoinValues
