I have a 1996 diary that is alot thicker than normal dime, as well as has smooth edged and looks to be maybe pressed to hard to make rim raised. So was this printed on the wrong planchet or what cause these defects. I have included a regular dime for comparison.

Yes, that definitely looks like a wrong planchet error, or an outside chance of a bonded coin (two coins stamped together). Definitely worth holding onto just for being unique and could even be worth a few dollars.
