I began collecting coins in 1965, when I was about 9 years old.Old coins have always fascinated me. Thinking of where its been, how many different hands they have gone, and to know it is of a time in the past that I am an alien to. I have owned thousands of old coins. I usually give them away, or someone steals them from me.I am disabled, on a fixed income. I would like to start selling them so I can have a little extra income. I live in Salinas, California in Monterey county. Is there a place that I can sell my coins and get their worth value, and not be cheated? The few times I have sold them I felt I was taken advantage of, or is that how the trade goes, or is that part of the trade to not get its full value?Post is under moderationStream item published successfully. First, it's great to meet someone like you who is so intrigued by the hobby and the history of U.S. coins. These days, it seems like a lot of coin collectors are finding the best profit by selling their coins on eBay. Usually the seller has the option of setting a price for their coins, and there is a pretty strong market for most of the popular coin series, too.
I also suggest you check out the list of reputable coin dealers indexed in the Professional Numismatists Guild site. Here's the link to the list of PNG dealers. Perhaps there's one near you. http://www.pngdealers.org/find-a-png-dealer?view=browselist
